Are share buybacks being used to inflate executive pay?

The Government has announced it is to carry out a study into whether companies are using share buybacks to artificially inflate executive pay.

The findings are due to be published later this year and the Government will consider whether any action is required to prevent share buybacks from being abused.

Executive pay remains a hot topic and this study is part of a wider review of corporate governance reforms announced last year.
